Side Effects


When you have dental surgery done, you may expect a little or some swelling. This is a natural healing process and may last several weeks. It depends on the nature and the extent of the surgery. Individuals with fair skin, or who bruise easily may anticipate some discoloration of the skin in the are surrounding the surgical procedures. Any discomfort that you have should be controlled with appropriate medication and not be severe.


Irregular vaginal bleeding, cramps, headache, nausea, breast pain, rash, hair loss, or weight gain can occur. If any of these effects last long or worsen, you should notify your doctor. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur...


You should notify your dentist if

1. you are unable to maintain a nutritious diet after 48 hours.
2. profuse bleeding continues after 3-4 hours of applied pressure.
3. the swelling or pain increases after the third day.
4. the sutures become loose or dislodged prior to the third day.
5. an oral bandage or dressing which was placed becomes dislodged prior to the third day.
6. you have any symptoms which may indicate a reaction or allergy to the medications such as:
- Skin rash/Itching
- Hives
- Elevated temperature
- Increased and/or erratic heart rate
- Nausea/vomiting
- Dizziness/fainting
- Blurred vision

7. wires or splints were placed and become dislodged or loose.
8. your body temperature remains higher than 100 degrees F. taken orally after the third day.
